Why We Built This
My first gout flare hit at 37 and I had no idea what triggered it. I spent hours Googling purine content for every meal โ and still got it wrong. So I built NoGout: the app I wished existed.
Foods highest in purines include organ meats (liver, kidney), red meat, shellfish (shrimp, lobster, scallops), anchovies, sardines, and beer โ especially IPAs. NoGout scans any meal and gives you an instant purine score so you don't have to memorise lists.
Most guidelines recommend staying under 3,000mg of purines per week for gout management. NoGout tracks your weekly total against this limit and shows you a live progress bar so you always know where you stand.
Yes. Studies show that dietary changes can reduce gout flare frequency by 40โ50%. Staying hydrated, limiting high-purine foods, and avoiding alcohol โ especially beer โ are the most impactful changes. NoGout makes tracking this effortless.
NoGout is an iPhone app that uses AI to scan any meal โ from a photo or description โ and instantly calculates its purine content and gout risk score. It tracks your daily and weekly intake so you can make smarter food choices before a flare hits.
